Shubman Gill said after the IND Vs BAN match Despite Axar Patel’s subsequent 42 off 34 balls, India still needed 56 off 38 with three wickets left. Gill admits a small miscalculation on his side that ultimately proved to be the difference.
“There’s so much energy when you are batting, sometimes you misjudge, both when I was at bat and when I was out actually. I believe that was a mistake on my behalf. When you are out, you realize that there is still a lot of time, and if I had batted a little more normally or not so fiercely, we would have been able to cross the finish line. We consequently decided to allow the ball to approach closer because it is typically simpler to score square of the wicket than down the ground on a slow wicket. The goal was to play the ball as late as possible says Gill.
The batter was questioned on why Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, two Indian pacers, weren’t used in the final Super 4 game. Gill said that since the pacers had played on three consecutive match days, they needed to rest up for the decisive game against Sri Lanka on September 17.”Bowlers were rested to keep them fresh ahead of the final match,” Gill said following the game. Gill said his inability to complete the game and stated that the Indian team was working to find a solution to the difficulty of chasing down this challenging number.
