Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal:
Tamim Iqbal, 34, recently announced his retirement from one-day internationals. His decision to step aside as captain comes less than a month after he declared his retirement from international cricket. On Thursday, he spoke to the press alongside Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan. Tamim announced his retirement on July 6, but the following afternoon, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked him to reconsider.
Tamim stated that he informed the prime minister of his desire to step down as captain on Thursday, following which he met with BCB president Nazmul Hassan and cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus at Hassan’s residence. Tamim Iqbal will miss the Asia Cup due to a persistent back ailment that is unlikely to cure in time. At the same time, he has resigned as Bangladesh’s one-day international captain to provide more clarity to the team and the BCB ahead of the World Cup.
After leading his team to a 17-run defeat in the first of a three-match one-day series against Afghanistan, the experienced opener broke down in tears and announced his retirement from international cricket.
Tamim had a conversation with the President or (BBC official):
Tamim Iqbal had a conversation with the President and Tamim said “I believe there is an injury issue,”. “I had an injection [on July 28], but it was hit or miss.” I informed them [the board] of the concern. Over and above anything else, I have always helped the team. So, with that in mind, stepping down is the greatest option. I want to give my all as a player whenever the opportunity presents itself. I spoke with the Prime Minister, who understood.”

“As you are aware, I had a vital meeting with Jalal bhai [Jalal Yunus] and Papon bhai [Nazmul Hassan].” We talked about what would happen next. “Today, I resign as ODI captain of the Bangladesh cricket team,” Tamim announced at a press conference alongside BCB president.
“I’ve had injections, but they’re almost hit-or-miss at this point.” I’ve already discussed my issues with them. “I’ve always put the team first,” he adds Surgery is an option, but recovering from it will be challenging. As a result, he might not choose that option.
Jalal Yunus, the head of cricket operations for BCB, told reporters on Thursday that Tamim’s lower disc injury had still not completely healed.
“Doctors said he wouldn’t be able to participate in the Asia Cup. He will be available for both the World Cup and the New Zealand series. He will receive every kind of assistance to help him heal from the wound, according to Jalal.
A new ODI skipper will be selected in due course, according to the BCB official.
After competing in the Asia Cup, Bangladesh will host New Zealand for three one-day international matches in late September.
On October 7, they will face Afghanistan in Dharamshala to open the World Cup in India.
By the way Between the Asia Cup and the World Cup, on September 21, Tamim Iqbal will participate in a home ODI series against New Zealand.
