OMG 2 released on OTT: ‘OMG 2’ starring Akshay Kumar has grown to be one of the most popular movies of the year. On August 11, the movie opened in theaters. Although competing with Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, OMG 2 has also performed well at the box office. More than 120 crores have been made off of this movie. The focus of the film, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Akshay Kumar, and Yami Gautam in leading roles, is the importance of sex education in the entire country. Even before it was released, the movie was the subject of numerous controversies.

Later, it received a 27-cut ‘A-Adults Only’ Central Board of Film Certification. It’s interesting to note that this is Akshay Kumar’s first A-rated movie in 12 years. And recently rumors are spreading that OMG 2 released on OTT, too, uncut. What did Amit Rai have to say about “OMG 2’s” OTT release? The A certificate destroyed his heart. He clarified that there will be no cuts to the movie when it is watched on OTT. We felt helpless because we had made the movie for everyone to view, but it was not possible, Amit added… We asked them to issue a U/A certificate (children under the age of 12 can see the film with parental supervision), but they rejected it. We continue in our efforts to convince them. But after that, both of us moved an acceptable distance. The movie has been modified and released.
What did Amit Rai have to say about OMG 2 released on OTT?
Amit Rai, the director of “OMG 2,” revealed in a recent interview with PTI that he was shocked to receive an A grade. He disclosed that there will be no edits to the movie when it is seen on OTT. We felt helpless because we had made this movie for everyone to see, but it was not to be, Amit Rai said, “We were heartbroken because we made the film for everyone to watch, now that cannot happen. We begged them to give us a U/A certificate (children below 12 years of age can watch a film under parental guidance) but they didn’t. We tried to convince them till the very end… But then they walked some distance, we walked some distance. The film has been released with modifications…”

Amit Rai in an interview with PTI said, “We are happy people have loved the film. The intent of the film was pure. Nobody wanted to titillate the audience, hence they liked it. We have dealt with it (the story) in a way that doesn’t sound vulgar. We talk about the reality but in a sweet and humorous way.”
Also, Amit Rai added, “We have decided that we will show the original film (on streaming), a film that the censor never wanted people to see, but…The public has seen the film and given their verdict. If the censor board doesn’t understand it, what do we say?”
